5 of the Best Walks in and around the North Yorkshire Moors

North Yorkshire has some of the worlds most stunning scenery. Whether you're on a dedicated walking holiday or a relaxing weekend break, it is the perfect place to go walking for pleasure. The lush valleys, heather-clad ridges, picturesque villages and rugged coastlines mean there are few better places - no wonder it often called 'God's own County'.



1) Roseberry Topping

A short walk at only 2 miles, it includes the challenging ascent to Cleveland's most famous hill. With an abundance of wildlife, historical value and beauty it is well worth negotiating. However, it is the views from the top of the hill that reward you the most here. Standing atop the hill with the coastline stretching across the North York Moors and into industrial Teeside is a truly breathtaking site.


2) Robin Hood's Bay to Boggle Hole

This is a picturesque walk along some of Yorkshire finest coastline - across cliff-tops or if its low tide the beach and returning via the old railway line. If you are fortunate to arrive during low tide check out the rock pools and fossils.

3) Kilburn Woods

Walking from Sutton Bank, taking in the panoramic views of Kilburn Woods. Walking through the woods on the old thieves highway - once used by enterprising thieves to escape. You will also see the white horse which dates back all the way to 1857.


4) Rievaulx Terrace

These 18th-century gardens were built for relaxation and entertainment. So this is the perfect short walk, for people who wish to spend time with friends in beautiful environs. With views across the Hambleton Hills and down the Abbey, the walk along the Terrace will give you the chance to clearly see the amazing North Yorkshire countryside and on occasion maybe even some of the wildlife.



5) Hutton-le-Hole to Lingmoor

Within the North Yorkshire Moors national park the village of Hutton-le-Hole is the perfect place to start your walk. Often thought described as one of Britain's most beautiful and picturesque. A circular walk help you escape into the beauty of the national park, trekking across fields and country tracks in the heart of Yorkshire.
